One night away without the kids was just what we needed and One&Only made it even more special!
Arriving is so much nicer when there’s a valet service and you don’t have to worry about parking. Maybe I’m just getting lazy in my old age, but what a great start to our stay. The hotel provides such a nice welcome, from the lovely scent you get when entering the lobby, to the refreshing welcome drink. Our bags were swiftly taken from us and we only saw them again once we were in our lovely suite.
The hotel was busy and had a great vibe, but there was quite a lot of events going on in Cape Town at the time. We stayed on the Island which I do personally prefer and we walked over to our Island Suite. The rooms are actually all very nice, and with us arriving on a very hot day, we welcomed the lovely cool air-conditioned room. We stayed in an Island Suite with a very inviting lounge area, great bedroom and an amazing bathroom. They have the best showers! They provided Charlotte Rhys goodies in the rooms, a state of the art coffee machine, as well as the usual safe, mini bar etc.

After a very quick change we were off to the pool for some well-deserved cocktails. The pool staff were so helpful and showed us immediately to two sun loungers. I really felt like I was on holiday, despite being 30 minutes from home and being in the capital of South Africa!

A lovely afternoon was spent at the pool and then relaxing in our suite (although it was far from relaxing for me as I watched ‘Palace’ lose again), and on such a big screen, it was even worse! This was soon forgotten about when we arrived for dinner at Nobu, which is situated in the hotel. Having not eaten there for a while, I couldn’t wait. I won’t go into detail about everything we ate (it was a lot), but a very big must is the Black Cod. It is simply amazing! Yes, it is expensive but worth every Rand. This is such a great choice of restaurant (and dish) for a special occasion dinner.

Back in our room we enjoyed a nightcap on the balcony (we actually had two balconies) and then retired to bed. The huge beds are really comfortable and the pillows were so good we even enquired where they bought them from.
I don’t usually worry about the TV channels available when staying at a hotel, but One&Only really do cater for everyone, and as for the breakfast, I think this is the best you’ll get in Cape Town. There is so much choice, I even filled up on oysters – not that I needed to fill up after our lovely dinner at Nobu, but there really is everything you could wish for.
This break was so well needed and it didn’t disappoint, aside from the fact that one night really isn’t long enough!
Thanks to all at the One&Only Cape Town for the most enjoyable stay.
