Mozambique

Mozambique has over 2000 kilometres of pristine Indian Ocean coastline dotted with beautiful beaches and clear water, colonial hotels, an abundance of some of the world's most exquisite seafood, as well as an interior with beautiful scenery and wildlife. Each of its provinces has its own unique cultures, languages, dance, music and handicraft. Formerly a Portuguese colony, it has become the playground of international tourists who visit the turquoise waters of various islands and coastal resorts.

Maputo, situated in the south, is the Capital City of Mozambique. Examples of Portugese Colonial architecture can be viewed all over the city although much of it has been damaged in the years of war. There are several museums and other places of interest.

Major Attractions

Bazaruto Archipelago - A chain of five islands, comprising three larger islands and two smaller ones. Sunsets, peace and solitude are a reality on the Bazaruto islands, allowing the visitor to choose what to do - or not to do. However, guests can relax on unspoilt, uncrowded, pristine beaches while for the more active there is excellent bird watching, superb diving and snorkelling as well as excellent fishing.

The Quirimbas Archipelago - A group of beautifully untouched islands, providing the perfect getaway.

National Parks - Include Banhine National Park, an important wetland, Bazaruto National Park, one of the largest marine parks in the Indian Ocean and Quirimbas Archipelago National Park, which has one of the world's best areas of coral reef.

Mozambique Island - A World Heritage site, is a fortified Portuguese trading post dating back to the sixteenth century. The small island, not far from Mozambique's mainland, has a variety of architecture including Christian churches and Islamic mosques.
