All vehicles are rented subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Hertz Rental Agreement, which must be signed by all renters on pick up of the vehicle.

These payments and any other extras may not be included in your voucher value. They must be paid directly by the renter on collecting the vehicle and an
applicable refunds will be made on termination of the rental. Payments must be covered by a credit card.
Rental Contract Fee
We have introduced a contract fee which will be payable by the client at the rental desk. This is an administration fee to cover admin costs and will apply to each and every rental. There is a legal requirement to store documents for a period of 5 years. The fee is for the cost for the administering, storing and retrieving all rental contracts.
Additional Drivers
All drivers must be listed on the applicable rental agreement. There is a charge for additional drivers. If an unlisted driver is involved in an accident, or theft of the vehicle, the renter will be liable for full damage / replacement costs.
Personal Service
While kilometres are always taken from Hertz station to station, we meet our Customers personally at airports, railway stations or elsewhere. A collection and delivery fee will be applied in the case of this service being required.
Delivery and Collection Charges
These fees apply to all deliveries and collections in South Africa within a 25km radius of a Hertz location. Thereafter on quotation for distances greater than 25km will apply.
Special Equipment
- Paraplegic hand controls are available (for all automatic vehicles only) at no cost and can be arranged to be at any one of the Hertz Branches country wide. This service needs to be mentioned when making the booking.
- Baby seats are also available from all branches at R 150.00 (incl. VAT) per seat per rental.

Terms of Payment
Rentals only granted to holders of a Major Credit card. A credit card Authorisation will be taken by Hertz which will be requested at the time of rental and final
adjustments are made upon termination. Only credit cards are accepted. Hertz recognises credit cards such as American Express, Diners Club , Visa and MasterCard.
Super Cover - R1200 fuel Deposit plus the vehicle excess

Driver's Licence
Renters must be in possession of a valid driver's licence. The minimum age for rental is 21. It is a legal requirement in RSA to be in possession of your original driver's licence at all times whilst driving a vehicle. An International driver's license is required for non-South African citizens (foreigners).
Petrol / Fuel Deposit
This is not included in our rates. Cars are delivered full and the Customer is charged for a full refill upon termination of rental by charging to the
fuel deposit.
Over the border rentals
A letter of authority for cross border rentals must be requested by the Customer at the time of rental. If this is not obtained, Hertz cannot be held responsible if the Customer is refused entry. Vehicles may be taken into Namibia, Swaziland, Lesotho, Mozambique and Botswana under the following circumstances.
- A letter of authority for crossing the border must be requested at time of reservation.
- If vehicles are taken into any neighbouring country without prior notice and payment of the additional insurance, Customers will be liable for the full costs of any accident / claims.
- Vehicles crossing the border into the above neighbouring countries may be rented from any Hertz branch in RSA and returned to any branch.
- One-Way cross border drop offs are on request, subject to authorisation.
Vehicles may not be taken into Zimbabwe or Angola.
One-way rentals
Vehicles may be collected from one Hertz location in South Africa and returned to another, however, this may be subject to charge when location is exceeding 150km.
A one way fee will apply on any one-way rentals when a vehicle is picked up and dropped off at different locations.

Value added tax
All charges reflected on rates brochures are inclusive of VAT.
Minimum rates charge
Rates are calculated for a minimum period of 24 hours from the time of pick-up to time of drop-off. Rates include: Limited coverage of passenger liability and
third party motor liability. Such cover being subject to the terms and conditions of the Hertz policy and insurance as is customary in this country.
Claim administration fee
As the responsibility amount on the waivers only contributes towards the repair costs of the vehicle, an administration fee of R 470 (incl. VAT) per accident will
be levied to cover the costs of processing the claim.
Procedure in Event of Accident
If the vehicle is involved an incident, is damaged, stolen or lost, the renter must take every reasonable precaution to safeguard the interests of Hertz, including
but not limited to:
- Notifying Hertz within 3 hours of becoming aware of the occurrence, and completing a Hertz form within 24 hours.
- Obtaining the names and addresses of everyone involved and possible witnesses.
- Not admitting responsibility or liability, not releasing other parties from liability, and not settling or claiming.
- Reporting all incidents, regardless of value, to the police within 24 hours and supply Hertz with an accident case number.
- Making proper provision for the safety and security of the vehicle.
- Co-operating with Hertz and its insurers in any investigation.
Traffic Fine Administration Fee
A handling fee will apply as an administration fee, over and above the fine that needs to be paid.
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
This insurance covers the renter and passengers of the rental vehicle in the event of death or permanent disability resulting from a collision with another vehicle.
